Originally published in 1906, this edition is the “Nouvelle edition” revised and greatly expanded with an engraved frontispiece and 20 full-page engravings within. “an erotic excursion into the delights of female underwear, devotes a whole chapter to the open and closed type of knickers, coming to the not surprising conclusion that the former could be seen as an invitation to a sexual encounter; the excitement of the can-can lay in the promise of this titillating form of underwear, as well as the display of layers of frills in both petticoats and pants.”
